Full responsibility for embarassing situation

I take full responsibility for the recent situation where I sent a personal email and SMS message to a long-time friend and colleague seeking financial help. However, instead of contacting me about the veracity of the message, he informed our boss and it was an embarrassing situation for me where lies had to be also told to maintain `credibility.'
